Biography / trivia

# Dhanush’s birth name is Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja. He was born on 28th July 1983 in Chennai, India. His father Kasthuri Raja is a noted film director in tamil film industry. His brother Selvaraghavan is a well known director in Tamil cinema.

# After finishing higher education at “St. John’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School Alwarthirunagar”Dhanush entered films. His brother Selvaraghavan supported his film career from the very beginning. Apart from acting he loves singing and writing lyrics.

# He entered films with “Thulluvadho Ilamai” in 2002 the film became a huge hit earning him a good fan base, the movie was directed by his father Kasthuri Raja.

# His 2nd venture “Kadhal Kondein” in 2003 was a blockbuster of the year and his performance was appreciated nationwide. “Kadhal Kondein” was Selvaraghavan’s first directorial venture. Dhanush’s next film Thiruda Thirudi was also a hit, hence establish himself in the tamil film industry was just a piece of cake for him.

# His song “Why this Kolaveri Di” from film 3 became mania on internet and YouTube. It was the biggest hit of the decade breaking all the records and boundaries of languages. The lyrics of “Why this Kolaveri Di” were written by Dhanush himself. Not just tamil fans but people all over the world appreciated the performance. After “Why this Kolaveri Di” fame Dhanush got huge offers from Bollywood film makers.

# A fake user created facebook account under “”Dhanush Kasthuri Raja” name but in Aug 2009 Dhanush gave a public statement that the account was created by a fake user. He asked the user to deactivate the account before facing legal actions from his side.

# Dhanush married Rajinikanth‘s daughter Aishwarya on 18th Nov 2004. The couple have two sons, Yatra and Linga.
